Early Voting - 2024
Your voice. Your vote. Your future.
This is an important election year. In addition to Presidential and Congressional elections, North Carolina will vote for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and other state wide offices. There are also many local seats on the ballot. For a full list of 2024 Offices up for election, go here.
During the primaries, voters may change their name or address at a one-stop voting site. If you are not registered to vote, you can register to vote during early voting with "Same-Day Registration.”

Important Dates:
Feb. 15: Early Voting Starts
Feb. 15 - March 2: Early Voting
March 2: In-person Early Voting ends at 3 pm
Feb. 27: Deadline for Board of Elections to Receive Absentee Ballot Requests
March 5: Primary Election Day! Absentee ballots MUST be received by 7:30 pm March 5
Voter Resources
If you’re already registered to vote, you’ll need to check your voter registration to confirm it is still active. Make sure to update your registration if you’ve moved or your name has changed since you last voted.
Once a person is convicted of a felony, they lose the right to vote in North Carolina until they have completed their sentence. For more details about voter eligibility, go here.
Note that this year, a Photo ID is required to vote. If you don’t have a valid photo ID, you can get one from the Buncombe County Board of Elections through the end of the early voting period. For more information, and to see what types of ID can be used, go here.
